Monitoring of Cargo Aircraft of the Volga-Dnepr Airlines
The Volga-Dnepr Airlines provides carriage of large-sized cargoes all over the world onboard the AN-124 Ruslan and IL-76 planes.
The Volga-Dnepr has set the problem to monitor its airplanes anywhere in the world. The following has to be transmitted:
- Aircraft coordinates and headings
- Aircraft flight parameters
- Distress signal transmission
The Spektr R&D, Production and Engineering Company developed an aircraft tracker Spektr-Iridium, which was certified by the International Airline Committee. It can be installed on any aircraft type. This device uses Iridium 9602 modem and transmits data via SBD.
The aircraft satellite-aided trackers allow the air traffic operators and the airline carriers to track position and heading of airplanes, to monitor function of the airborne gears and other telemetry information in the ocean space, and it also ensures the distress signal transmission.
The Spektr R&D, Production and Engineering Company has equipped the Volga-Dnepr Airlines airplanes Il-76, voyaging to Antarctica, with Spektr-GLONASS (Iridium) trackers.
Moreover, the Spektr-GLONASS trackers have found a wide application in helicopters of Mi-8 type in various regions.
