Monitoring of Container Transport

Monitoring of Container Transport

Within the framework of the Silk Road project, transportation traffic between China, the CIS countries and Europe, which passes through the Russia territory and territorial waters, grows year over year. The volume of container transportation between the CIS countries and Europe along the Russia territory increases as well.

The container transport operators and the freight owners are interested in the monitoring of their containers along the entire transport route. Since the major part of the container transport route passes through the regions without land-line networks, the Sirius locking and sealing devices and the beacons using Iridium satellite communication channel will be used for monitoring the containers.

Analysis of the data transmitted allowed to determine that the SBD service may be used for such monitoring, since the volume of the data transmitted per month does not exceed 20–30 kb.

Volume of data per month is 30 kb max.

Outfit capacity is over 10000 items.

Reliability Above All sm

In early 2019, Iridium completed the $3 billion Iridium NEXT mission, which completely replaced the first-generation Iridium constellation. With an upgraded network, Iridium is poised now more than ever to meet the growing demand for global communications on land, at sea, and in the skies – far into the future.
